The project

This project involved installing a new water supply pipe at an Oxted property. The work took place around a block-paved driveway and the side of the building, with access needed for the underground pipework and its entry into the property. See how we approach this type of work on our water main replacement page.

Access and underground pipework

Sections of block paving were lifted to create access excavations along the supply route. The photographs document the working areas and the new blue water supply pipe within an excavation.

Frequently asked questions

Can a new water supply pipe be installed beneath block paving?

Yes. Access may require sections of paving to be lifted. The Oxted project photographs show access excavations and reinstated paving. The installation method depends on the route, ground conditions and nearby services.

Will the paving be reinstated afterwards?

The photographs from this project show the disturbed block paving relaid and the surface made good beside the drainage grille. For a new job, the extent of reinstatement should be agreed in the written quotation.

Can moling reduce excavation for a new water supply pipe?

Where the route and ground conditions are suitable, moling can install a pipe between access pits without excavating a continuous trench. Suitability needs to be assessed for each property. Learn how moling works.
