Everyday plumbing work we take on

Alongside water mains and leak detection, we handle the routine domestic plumbing that most households need at some point. It is all done by the same person who quotes it, and priced as a fixed figure before work starts.

Taps, valves and stop taps

Dripping taps, seized isolation valves and stop taps that no longer turn are among the most common jobs we get called to. A seized internal stop tap is worth dealing with before it matters: if you cannot isolate the water at the point it enters the house, a small leak becomes a flooded floor. Replacing one is a short, inexpensive job and we will usually fit a lever-type valve so it stays serviceable.

Toilets, cisterns and overflows

A continuously running toilet can waste several hundred litres a day and is a surprisingly common cause of an unexplained jump in a metered water bill. Most cases are a worn flush valve seal or an inlet valve that no longer shuts off cleanly, and both are quick to replace. We also refit pans, replace concealed cistern components and deal with overflow pipes discharging outside.

Leaks, pipework and repairs

Burst or weeping pipework under floors, behind kitchen units and in loft spaces is repaired in copper or plastic depending on what is there and what will last. Where a leak has been running for a while we will also check the surrounding timber and plasterboard so you know what else needs attention rather than discovering it later.

For hidden leaks that cannot be seen, we use the same acoustic and thermal equipment as on our dedicated leak detection work, so nothing gets opened up on guesswork.

Outside taps, garden supplies and appliance connections

We install outside taps with proper double-check valve protection, run new supplies to garden rooms, garages and stables, and connect washing machines, dishwashers, water softeners and filtered drinking water taps. Where a new supply needs to cross a driveway or lawn we can mole it in rather than trench it.
