1. Plan Your Layout Early
Moving the position of your toilet, shower, or bath means re-routing waste pipes — which adds cost and complexity. If your current layout works well, consider keeping major fixtures in place and upgrading the fittings and finishes instead.
2. Ventilation is Non-Negotiable
A bathroom without proper ventilation will develop mould and damp problems. If you don't have a window, make sure an extractor fan is part of the plan. We recommend a fan with a humidity sensor that runs automatically.
3. Choose Tiles That Last
Porcelain tiles are more durable and water-resistant than ceramic for wet areas. Larger format tiles mean fewer grout lines to clean. And always use anti-slip rated tiles on the floor — especially if you're building a wetroom.
4. Think About Storage
Bathrooms always need more storage than you think. Wall-mounted vanity units, recessed niches in shower walls, and mirrored cabinets all help keep the space tidy without eating into floor area.
5. Hire One Contractor to Manage It All
A bathroom renovation involves plumbing, tiling, electrics, and sometimes carpentry. Coordinating multiple tradespeople yourself is stressful. At Grange Plumbing, we manage the entire project from strip-out to finish — so you only have one point of contact.
