We use specialist leak detection equipment rather than guesswork — acoustic listening devices to hear water escaping underground, thermal imaging, tracer gas where needed, and pressure testing to confirm the section at fault. This lets us pinpoint the leak so excavation is kept to one small, targeted area.
Yes. If the rest of the pipe is in good condition we can expose the damaged section and carry out a localised repair, usually the same day. Where the pipe is old, corroded or has failed in several places, replacement is normally the better long-term value — and we use trenchless moling to install the new pipe with minimal digging.
It depends on the pipe's age and material. A single leak on a relatively new MDPE pipe is usually worth repairing. But lead, steel or galvanised pipes that have started leaking tend to fail again elsewhere, so replacing the whole supply pipe with modern MDPE is often cheaper than repeated repairs — and it improves flow and water quality too.
